Mitchell Fasanya, 20, is the CTO and co-founder of Fanbytes and currently studies Computer Science at the University of Nottingham. Mitchell co-founded Fanbytes in January 2015 along with Timothy Armoo (CEO) and Ambrose Cooke (COO). We caught up with him briefly to ask what Fanbytes is all about and his thoughts on running a company while at University.
What does Fanbytes do?
"Influencer marketing, we work with some of the biggest stars on social media and help them collaborate with cool brands such as Adidas, Go Pro and Disney."
How did you get involved with the business?
I was the founder of another start up prior to Fanbytes, when I was approached by our CEO Timothy Armoo to be the CTO of Fanbytes. At which time I sold my previous company to join a more millennial focused business.
How have you found balancing running a business and University work?
It can be tough during particularly busy parts of term. For example exam periods and coursework, however with the correct time management it can be easy. You simply have to sacrifice a few nights out and other social activities from time to time.
Is it worth it and if so why?
Yes, I would recommend it to anyone. Not just for the money, but because you can actually achieve goals that will help you learn lessons you never will at university.
What are you planning to do after University?
Continue with Fanbytes until we take to an acquisition or buy out stage.
What is the best thing about running a business?
Freedom, the ability to work your own hours and set your own targets.
What have you learnt from running a business?
I don’t have enough words to truly answer this question. All I can say is that I would not be the person I am today without running my own company.
Thank you for your time Mitchell and we wish you and the team all the best with Fanbytes going forward.
