From $0 to $425 million In 4 Years

So how much would you be earning after four years if you started a Graduate job say at one of the big four or the big investment banks like Goldman Sachs? I would predict between £60,000 and £100,000. However, you would probably be working horrifically long hours and not enjoying going into work everyday (or maybe you would).

We all hear about these 20 year old millionaires and how they have made their money and funnily enough none of them went into graduate schemes. We have this stereotypical pathway these days of doing your A-levels, going to a good university, getting a good degree, go into a graduate scheme. However, it will be pretty much impossible to make millions of pounds by doing a graduate scheme unless you were incredibly lucky with any investments you made.

One quote I saw recently was “an entrepreneur is someone who is prepared to work like no one else can for two years so that they can live the rest of their life like no one else could.”

So why is this blog post titled “From $0 to $425 million In 4 Years”? Well, it’s because a project management startup company called Trello achieved this feat. After four years of operation, Trello is being acquired by Atlassian. The acquisition which is worth $425 million is expected to close by 31st March 2017. What is impressive is that the vast majority of the transaction is in cash, $360 million to be precise.
